Trappers Loop Bend Landslides, Morgan County

Two landslides occurred along and near Trappers Loop Bend (SR-167) in Morgan County. They were first reported on April 30, 2023, by KSL Chopper 5. There is one large landslide and a secondary landslide. The secondary landslide was triggered by movement at the toe of the large landslide and has internal scarps.

Landslide Type: Rotational

Size: Three-fourths of a football field wide and long (235 by 250 feet) and an 11-foot headscarp

Special Conditions: Presence of geologic unit Norwood Tuff; Landslide toe daylighting in a flowing creek; A benched area near cattle fence was saturated and seeping water.

Damages: Cattle fencing is displaced, SR-167 is above the landslide with no damage

Status: Active, slow-moving
