Snake Creek Drive Landslide, Wasatch County

A landslide occurred on May 5, 2023, on the fill side of Snake Creek Drive, approximately three miles west of Midway. Seeps or springs are visible on the slope of the landslide indicating that groundwater levels are elevated due to heavy snowpack. The road was also built on an existing landslide deposit.

Landslide Type: Translational sliding of roadfill on a steep slope.

Size: Estimated 300 feet wide and 100 feet long.

Special Conditions: The slope has slid in past wet years.

Damages: The fill on the side of the road has been damaged.

Status: Active
