A New Round of Grant Applications Sought for Energy Efficiency Efforts in Utah

The Utah State Energy Program (USEP) has issued a Request for Grant Applications for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Outreach, Education, and Marketing Campaigns. A total of $500,000 is available for this grant.

It is anticipated that the funds will be issued through two-to-six separate grants. Applicants are encouraged to seek partnerships with utilities, local governments or other resources to help leverage marketing and education.

The purpose of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Outreach, Education, and Marketing Campaigns is to increase the adoption of energy efficient and renewable energy technologies, and to increase participation in USEP programs.

Examples of eligible activities could include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting and managing energy working groups
  • Renewable energy and energy efficiency outreach
  • Renewable energy workshops
  • K-12 energy efficiency and renewable energy education
  • Renewable energy instructional posters
  • Experiential education
  • Adult energy efficiency and renewable energy education
  • Behavioral education programs for achieving increased energy efficiency

Funding for this grant is provided through the Department of Energy (DOE) as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). As such, this grant is subject to all requirements and limitations of ARRA and DOE funding.

Grant applications are due by 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 16, 2009. All funding for this grant must be committed prior to October of 2010 and all funds must be spent prior to April of 2012.
