Snake Valley Monitoring-Well Project
Ground-Water Monitoring-Well Project in Snake Valley
In early 2007 the Utah State Legislature requested the UGS to establish a ground-water monitoring-well network in Utah’s west desert, in response to proposed water-development projects in east-central Nevada and west-central Utah.
Aquifer
Storage and Recovery Projects
Aquifer storage and recovery projects involve the storage
of water in an aquifer via artificial ground-water recharge
when water is available, and recovery of the stored water
from the aquifer when water is needed.

Sensitivity & Vulnerability
to Pesticides
Sensitivity is determined by assessing natural factors
favorable or unfavorable to the degradation of ground water
when pesticides are applied or spilled on the suface. Vulnerability
is determined by assessing how ground-water sensitivity
is modified by the activities of humans.

The Ground-Water & Paleontology Program (GWPP) maintains
and publishes records of Utah's fossil resources, provides
paleontological recovery services to state and local governments,
and evaluates the quantity and quality of Utah's ground-water
resources. The GWPP also manages a paleontological training
program for amateurs and provides state government and the
public with detailed studies on paleontological and ground-water
resources.
