Andalex Resources - Aberdeen and Pinnacle Mines

The Andalex mines are located in the Coal Creek area about seven miles north of Price. The first mines were developed in the early 1900s, but most of the mining occurred between 1940 and 1965. Andalex Resources acquired the property in the mid-1970s and the first mine was developed in 1979.

From then to now, the mines have produced coal from the Flat Canyon, Centennial, Apex, Aberdeen and Gilson seams. The Aberdeen mine is one of the deepest mines in the United States with plans to go to a cover depth of about 3,150 feet. Andalex is currently pulling out of the Pinnacle mine, which will close in the next two or three years.
