Reporters from television stations and newspapers were on hand during the first day of Earth Science Week (ESW) which was celebrated at the UGS's Utah Core Research Center. During a break in ESW activities, UGS paleontologists Jim Kirkland and Don DeBlieux unveiled the reconstructed skull of the Last Chance Ceratopsian. Some of the 4th-grade students present were even interviewed by several reporters.
This year's ESW activities were held for three days, during which 685 students participated in activities such as panning for "gold" and identifying rocks and minerals.
